Service Terms and Conditions
1. General Service Description These terms apply to the delivery of empty skip bags and the collection of filled skip bags (including Surrey Skip Bags, Hippo Bags, Clearabee Bags, and other third-party bags) across our serviced postcodes in Surrey and Sussex.
2. Orders, Delivery, and Collection Timeframes
-
Delivery: Orders for empty skip bags placed before midday will be dispatched via post on the same day.
-
Collection: Upon notification that a bag is ready for collection, we aim to collect the bag within 3 to 5 working days.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy (14-Day Guarantee)
-
Customers have the right to cancel their order within 14 days of receiving their empty skip bag.
-
To be eligible for a full refund, the skip bag must be completely unused, undamaged, and in a resalable condition.
-
If a collection service has been pre-paid but is no longer required, a refund for the collection element can be issued provided the collection vehicle has not already been dispatched.
4. Bag Placement and Access Restrictions
-
Private Property: Bags must ideally be placed on the customer’s private property (e.g., driveway or garden) within reach of the public highway.
-
Public Highways: If a bag must be placed on a public highway, the customer is solely responsible for obtaining any necessary permits from the local council and providing adequate lighting/signage.
-
Access: Our collection vehicles require a minimum access width of 2 metres (standard driveway width).
-
Crane Reach & Weight Limits: The ability of our crane to lift your bag depends on its distance from the lorry. Customers must adhere to the following distance-to-weight ratios:
-
1.2m from Lorry = Maximum 900 kgs
-
2.2m from Lorry = Maximum 670 kgs
-
3.0m from Lorry = Maximum 470 kgs
-
4.0m from Lorry = Maximum 350 kgs
-
5.0m from Lorry = Maximum 250 kgs
-
5. Permitted and Prohibited Waste
-
Permitted Waste: Bags can be filled with general household waste, garden waste, and building materials.
-
Soil and Hardcore: Standard (Midi) bags can be completely filled with soil or hardcore. Jumbo (Mega) bags must not be more than half-filled with soil/hardcore due to strict weight restrictions.
-
Plasterboard: Plasterboard is accepted but must be placed at the very top of the bag so it can be separated easily. It must not be mixed into the general waste.
-
Prohibited Waste: Under no circumstances should the following items be placed in the bags: Fridges, freezers, tyres, paint, or any hazardous/specialist waste (such as asbestos or chemicals). If prohibited items are found, the bag may be refused for collection, or additional disposal fees will be charged.
6. Time Limits and Surcharges
-
6-Month Limit: The structural integrity of our skip bags is guaranteed for 6 months.
-
Surcharges: If you require a collection for a bag that has been on-site for more than 6 months, a surcharge will apply due to the risk of bag degradation (£25 for standard bags, £35 for Jumbo bags). This surcharge is waived if you are purchasing a new bag at the same time.
7. Liability Surrey Skip Bags accepts no liability for damage caused to property (such as driveways, manhole covers, or lawns) during the lawful operation of our crane and lorry, provided the customer directed us to operate in that location. Customers are responsible for ensuring the ground can support the weight of the collection vehicle.
